Pros: Cheap, front A/V inputs, simple.
Cons: Disturbingly light, flimsy, only the basic RCA and coaxial outputs.
The Bottom Line: I wouldn’t recommend this VCR for a dedicated home theater. I would recommend it if you are looking for a cheap VCR to record TV programs and occasionally watch movies.

| jsprin's Full Review: Emerson EWV603 VHS VCR |
I bought the Emerson EWV603 because it was one of cheapest VCRs that I could find. With VHS on the way out, I did not see any need to spend any more money as necessary for a VCR. However, I also wanted more features than just a play and stop button.
Setup is just like most VCRs; plug in the cables, run the automatic channel set up, and set the clock.
This VCR feels very light and rather flimsy. It weighs just under four pounds and is just 14-3/16 inches wide, 3-5/8 inches tall, and 8-1/2 inches deep.
On the front there are left and right channel RCA type audio input jacks, a video input jack (also RCA type), a power button, channel selection buttons, a menu button, record button, stop/eject button, rewind button, play button, fast forward button, power indicator light, VCR/TV indicator light, tape in indicator light, timer indicator light and record indicator light.
The rear panel has RCA type left and right audio in and out, RCA type video in and out, and coaxial antenna in and out jacks. There are a total of eight jacks on the back panel.
A twenty-seven button remote takes two AA batteries and covers all operating functions.
Operating functions include normal playback, still/slow, auto repeat playback, two speeds of pictured fast forward and rewind, index search, time search, SP record, SLP record, one touch record, timer record, auto rewind, and real time tape counter.
Do not buy this VCR if you are looking for high quality. It is more suited for a second VCR, a kids play room, a poor college student, or someone on a very tight budget. Mine does work well for now, but it makes a loud pop every time I press play or stop while fast forwarding. I have no complaints about the picture or sound quality. However, I would not use it in a dedicated home theater. For the money it is hard to beat. Actually, it is hard to find very many VCRs as cheap as this one.
