Pros: Playable--thin neck, low action
Cons: Sound is not rich
The Bottom Line: Why pay $700+ when a guitar like this is available for under $200 from Musician's Friend and AMS?

This is a guitar I bought in 2002 to replace a Yamaha FG-230 I bought in 1972 but no longer found playable now, in my 50's. The Epiphone has the same fine qualities as other, more expensive 12 strings I tested--Guild, Fender, Seagull--with much better playability. It does not have electronics, but a $45 Dean Markley pickup makes it sound as good as the guitars I tested with electronics. It lacks the deep resonance of the Yamaha, but that can be compensated for when recording via eq and amplification. It is a good rhythm guitar for performance or initial recording tracks and complements the sound of a 6-string acoustic like the Epiphone Texan for tonal variety.
