Bad warranty and product

The Bottom Line: It prints well enough when it actually works. It is not reliable and warranty with it is an absolute joke.

I bought my printer new. I found that printing was very slow especially when printing borderless photos. One page could take minutes to complete. I found that after a few months the colours weren’t coming out of the cartridges reliably. Some prints would be without blue and others without the red. It was good having a bet on what colour wouldn’t work next. I took the printer back to the shop (Harvey Norman) which is a very large Australian franchise. They took it in under warranty to try and fix it. It gets sent to an authorised Epson repairer. After a couple of weeks I got it back. The printer worked for a few more prints. I hardly ever use the printer so it took at least six month before the problem re-occurred. I took it back in and they said they fixed it again. Surly enough it worked for a few months and the problem struck again. I took it in under warranty for the third time and they fixed it for the third time. It worked well for a few more prints and then the printer didn’t work properly again. This time, I was out of warranty. This Epson Stylus Photo 830u is a total lemon as far as printers go. I will never buy another Epson printer again.
