Ease of Use:
Pros:LCD Monitor, Accepts most media types, No computer necessary. GREAT PHOTOS
Cons:It doesn't come with a cord to connect from Printer to Computer.
The Bottom Line: Thus far, I HAVE to recommend the Epson R300M. The pictures are beautiful and it is AMAZINGLY easy to use. It can be used WITHOUT a computer.
Christmas has come and gone, and this year was my wife's year to step into the digital age. For Christmas, I did my homework (mostly on epinions.com), and decided on a 4MP Canon A85. She likes simple and accurate, and thus far, it is EXACTLY what she wanted.

She had planned on just using Wal-mart for her printing, but I just couldn't allow that. I did my homework once again, here at epinions, and the above reviews sold me on the Epson R300M. Here is my experience.
Out of the box, this just HAS to be the easiest photo printer. We've had it for a few days and STILL haven't connected it to the computer.
The first feature I needed was the monitor. With the monitor, you can SEE which photo you want to print. It's not the best quality LCD, but you can SEE which photo you are going to print. The printer also has a LOT of built in features to edit your photos, Crop and photoenhance to name a few. With the monitor, you can see where the cropping will go. All without NEEDING a computer.
The second feature was the printer needed to directly accept different media types. The R300M has done a great job with our new CompactFlash that came with her Canon, AND the Sony Memorystick I pulled out of my video camera. It is just so slick. Push in the stick, up come your pictures on the monitor. Print them out. Easy.
The last feature, one that I haven't used yet, is the printing directly to CD/DVD. This will come in handy. I've tried using CD Labels in the past and I guess I must be doing something wrong as they peel off after a few weeks. They unbalance the CD, making your player work harder. With direct printing, the added weight should be negligible, and the print shouldn't come off. I am excited to use this feature.
The pictures we have played with and printed out are just excellent. Premium Gloss Epson 4x6 is the paper we have been using. As posted above, you really can't tell that it was printed at home. It's amazing. Even with the picture half-way out, while it's still printing, I can't believe the color and clarity that is coming out of this home printer. The colors are exact.
Just for fun, because it works so fast, we took a picture of my Mother-in-law holding my sleeping 6-month old while sitting in a chair on Christmas. My wife took the picture, took the CF card, put it in the printer, and printed it out for her Mom all within about a minute. We A/B'd the colors, as my Mother-in-law hadn't moved, and they were dead on. Beautiful. Have I mentioned I am amazed with how easy this works?
I doubt I will ever even get this printer down to my computer in the basement. My wife keeps it on her scrapbooking table. She takes photos, then just prints them right there. I will have to put photoshop on my laptop I guess if I ever want to edit any photos then print them. The R300M isn't going anywhere.
It's convenience, and accuracy, are the main selling points. I can't even imagine how many trips it would take to Wal-Mart to get all the photo's she's printed in 2 days. Not to mention the after-Christmas hub-bub and long lines. No Thanks.
I picked up a 100-pack of the Epson 4x6 Premium Glossy for around $18 at Best Buy yesterday. I'm sure I can do better online. That's 18 cents a photo.
One last thing, from what I've read, only use Epson printer paper. Regardless of what printer you use. Just $.02 I've picked up.
The Epson R300M is just a dream and is by far the best present I could have given my wife this year.
