Pros: Nice design, ease of use, somewhat small could be smaller, great battery life.
Cons: WAY TOO many false alarms, VG-2 Radar Detector Detector Immunity is the WORST!! Expensive.
The Bottom Line: Does not perform as promised...period. MotorTrend gave it the best radar award Feb. 2004, it wasn't real world testing, don't forget Escort spends TONS of money on advertising.

I purchased the S2 Cordless because of its convenience and supposed features. Well, I live in Canada and I get tons of false alarms in city mode all the time to the point where I just turn it off it is that annoying...worse than a wife!! Secondly, it DOES NOT protect you against VG-2 Radar Detector Detector 100%. I got pulled over not for speeding....the officer ask for 4 things, drivers license, insurance, registration and RADAR DETECTOR!!
As well, he said we have the technology to detect it!!! What happened to 100% immunity..not so I am proof and also check the magazine MotorTrend Feb. 2004 they gave the Passport 8500 which the Solo S2 is supposed to be identical to in performance except cordless a 9.5 out of 10. Therefore, it is not completely immune!! This cop picked me out of of 10 cars on the road EASILY so therefore that .5 difference is more than enough signal for the officer to pick up the S2's signal strength. In terms of range I have yet to see a cop when the unit goes off at any time city or highway. As well sometimes when turn the unit on and I'm in a mall I get the K band and Laser signal going off. I'm thinking since when does a mall use Laser?!! For $400 dollars I expected much,much more maybe I this is it.....I don't know. I am not saying it doesn't detect radar I just haven't experienced it as yet even when I got pulled over by the cop it didn't even chirp ONCE!! So therefore he must of only had his VG-2 Radar detector detector on and no radar gun which I think is very, very odd....is this normal? I may have a lemon but I doubt it, I think this is basically how they all work. The packaging and on there website it says completely immune to VG-2...then if they are so confident why doesn't ESCORT guarantee that if it gets taken away from a cop and on the ticket it says use of radar detector that they will ship you one for FREE!! Put your money where your mouth is they are simply not telling the truth on the box or the website....NO WAY does it have complete VG-2 stealth technology. Make the guarantee or don't lie to your customers is what I have to say this isn't a $40 dollar gadget its $400!!! I payed for something that isn't doing what the manufacturer promised!!
