apiltz's Full Review: Eureka 5892AVZ Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum
I purchased this vacuum after years with a Hoover. I searched on-line, read reviews, and then looked at my pocket book. This one seemed like a great value. I was not disappointed.
The cord is quite a bit longer than my last one, so I haven't had to plug/unplug as much as in the past. It comes with all the regular attachments and they are all handy and easily stored.
I picked this one over some other models because of the duster attached to the side. It is wonderful! It is not a separate hand-held vac. It is one of those electro-static dusters that you spin the handle in your hand to "build up the charge" and then dust with it. This is just like one of those, but you push a button and it spins the duster for you. When you are done dusting, you put it back in the holder, push the same button, and the vacuum sucks the dust off it. I always found I was just dropping the dust from the other dusters, or there was a pile of dust where I stored it because the dust would fall off when it lost the "charge." I like the idea of dusting with the vacuum, but it just doesn't work for some places or around some items. The attached duster does the job wonderfully, and then the vacuum sucks the dust away.
However, I was most surprised by the attachment for vacuuming stairs or upholstery. Usually this attachment is all plastic with no extra power to it. This upholstery attachment has a rotating brush, that runs from a separate motor, so it is like a handheld vac, but with the suction of an upright since it is an attachment. It is outstanding! I would purchase this vacuum again just for this feature!
My only caution is if you have to remove the hose at the permanent attachment location, where it is clear, make sure you remove the extension wand next to it first. I didn't and the plastic holding broke. I had to have the whole vacuum replaced, but it was still under warranty. I didn't have a bad experience with that either. The company sent out a new one in about 2 weeks, and I was told it could take up to 6 weeks. They definitely back their product and are helpful to their customers.
