A PROBLEM: Out of the box and as per the owner's manual the SC618C either does nothing, or maybe it spits nothing useful. It gets hot, but that is all. No steam or anything consistent.

A FIX: As it turns out, this is actually a reasonably engineered device with some decent materials quality. However, in my case I discovered a sub-component manufacture flaw in the pump that is easily fixed if you are handy taking things like this apart. If you are outside of returning to point-of-sale and warranty does not work for you, this should take you about 30 minutes. This is not a hard task, but perform at your own risk. Without the aid of pictures: 1) Unplug the AC, discharge any water, and let the device cool. 2) Carefully remove all screws and open casing. 3) Remove plastic pump component (that the lever depresses) by removing two bracket screws and disconnecting the two hoses. You can test the pump at this point using a glass of water. If it sucks & sprays out water, then THIS FIX is not your problem (stop). 4) Remove the three screws and pull pump halves apart. 5) There are two black rubber nipples. Squeeze each of them until you can see light through both of them. THIS IS THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM since sometimes the fine slit in the rubber is not complete (manufacture problem). You can reassemble the pump and re-test with a glass of water. The amount of pumped water should be significant. 6) Re-assemble everything by reversing the steps. 7) You may need to grease the tip or inside the handle where the pump shaft touches. Use a clear or white grease. 8) Retry the owner's manual instructions.
