Pros: The Samarium Cobalt Pickups are amazing.
Cons: I wish it had a "roller nut."

I really enjoyed reading this review. I can't believe the sales people either. They have not a clue what I'm talking about, they seem to be computer whizzes but know nothing about their products. Have a blessed day. Stella

Great review, as usual... (Reply to this comment)

I laughed about your encounter with the salesman. That's typical of how they treat me, if they even notice me--I know I'm almost invisible at 6'2" and 250 lbs. I went into a Guitar Center ready to buy a '61 SG reissue and was so turned off by being ignored that I changed my mind and bought one on ebay. Usually the sales people are too busy talking amongst themselves about the upcoming weekend. Thanks for letting me rant a little here and keep up the good work!

Dr. P,

Your reviews are beyond description! For the longest time, I've been telling my wife that my dream guitar was a Telecaster with a Humbucker pickup at the neck and a built-in overdrive (i.e., Andy Summers' 1963 Fender Telecaster, after-market modified). However, after reading this review, wow! Strats are beauties!

Just a short note to congratulate you on your purchases. I was recently on the market for a second guitar to complement and contrast with my Gibson Les Paul. After an afternoon spent playing everything from Tele's to semi-accoustics my eyes fell on the 50th Anniv. American Deluxe strat. It wasn't quite love at first sight (although it's definitely a looker), more love at first play. Neck is perfect for me, pick-ups are a real revelation, especially with the S-1 switching system which one friend described as "a helping of low end with a dollop of cream on the top". Although the Les Paul is my wife, the strat is now my mistress! Hope you and you're buddy are having as much fun with it as me.

I've been playing for over 40 years, owned a few Strats (incl. a 1965)& Les Pauls along the way. I just had the pleasure of shopping for my band-mate & good buddy's 50th birthday present...a most generous gift from his wife. He currently plays a Les Paul. I tried a ton of Strats & Teles, figuring he should have a single coil axe to complement his sound palette. After I played the 50th Anniversary American Deluxe Strat, I couldn't put it down! In fact not only did I buy it for my friend, but I traded in my beloved 2 year old 3-color American Standard (with a rosewood fretboard) for one as well! It's a good thing I play bass in our band, as we might look a little too cute playing the exact same guitars! But as far as the instrument is concerned, what else can I say...you nailed in your review...it's an amazing guitar! Thanks for taking the time to elucidate this gem's value.

I so want this guitar and I can't even do more than strum chords.

The Fender strat is the absolute best electric guitar that money can buy.

Seeing how I am poor and can't afford this one...Do you have one you can suggest that is less expensive? How about an amp to boot?

Great Review!
