Pros: Price tag alot less expensive than the EOS 1v or EOS 3
Cons: Need the owners manual by your side at all times. Difficult to recall all functions.
The Bottom Line: I guess a person like me who wants to seriously get into photography as a profession should look elsewhere as the EOS A2 does not deliver in many aspects.

| photolar's Full Review: Canon EOS-A2 Film Camera |
I have had my Canon EOS A2 for almost a year now and I have found that it has not lived up to my expectations whatsoever. Out of the ten rolls of film I have taken (using anything from $3.00 drugstore film to $8.00-$9.00 Fugi and AGFA semi-pro film) maybe 10 pictures have come out pin sharp - the rest have been blurry , over-exposed , under-exposed ; whether it be in the various shooting modes (portrait, scenic, action etc...) or the other modes (aperture-priority , shutter speed priority , full auto mode etc...). Lenses used on these ten rolls were a Canon 28-105mm ultrasonic lens and a Tamron 70-300mm zoom with similar results with and without a tripod. I have really been frustrated with the results of the Canon EOS A2 - I am honestly getting $30.00 CAD point-and-shoot quality out of a unit that I had paid $700.00 CAD for. Perhaps I just purchased a "lemon" but it certainly doesn't encourage me to purchase another Canon photographic product anytime soon. The owners guide in my opinion does not explain the procedures in laymans terms so that a novice can read it over once or twice from cover to cover and feel comfortable shooting in any given situation as simplicity of use does not seem to be apparent with this unit. I have found myself missing many photographic opportunities as I need to reach for that manual before reaching for my camera.
If all the various settings work properly as it seems like with other reviewers experiences then yes, the Canon EOS A2 has alot to offer but having poor quality pictures as my result , it sure puts a sour taste in my mouth.
