To put it simply, the F4s along with the F3 are the two cameras I would bring along if I were to go anywhere else in the world if I had to shoot digital. The F4s is just simply a marvelous piece of engineering and gives you piece of mind for the following reasons:
1.) It is built like Fort Knox
2.) You can see the winder actually winding letting you know the film is advancing.
3.) Still very good matrix metering.
4.) Pretty much all Nikon lenses still work on this beast.
I spent 3 months at a top 15 newspaper in the US shooting with a Nikon F4s, it has been through crime scenes, rowdy kids, torturous heat, and other such extremities. Did I mention it's been bitten by a dog?
All kidding aside, in the world of digital, you won't find a camera made like this anymore unfortunately. Try as Nikon might, digital will always have more gotchas that can foul you up in the field requiring you to carry a film backup.
As always though, it's the person behind the camera that makes the photos, but cameras like the F4s make it all the more possible to shoot some memorable images.
