The Nikon F5 is the king of the hill when it comes to Professional cameras. With a Matrix metering system that is so good I have never, repeat never questioned it and all of my shots are perfect. Using an SB-28 flash with a Nikon D lenses takes all of the work out of flash photography. I have yet to adjust it on any shots. The blistering 8 frames per second is fantastic. I leave mine on CH for most of my shooting and use the custom setting 01 for focus priority. Only Canon has a camera that is faster using a pellicle mirror, but the image suffers a little. The command dials are well set up as are the auto exposure and auto focus lock buttons. The dynamic auto focus is fantastic for moving subjects. The camera is has a very solid feeling to it. The rubber coating gives it an incredible gripping surface. The rewind button and lever (1&2) are set up so that you never accidentally rewind your film. Be aware you have to keep the #2 button pressed until it is completely rewound, it is not automatic! I would suggest using custom setting #8, it advances your film to the first frame when the back door is closed after loading your film. As anyone who has used Nikon Professional cameras I'm used to the ruggedness of their cameras. The F5 is as solid as a tank. Nikon has come up with 24 custom settings. I find only about 5 that are really useful. The other settings are questionable like setting the self timer to 60 seconds? or the alert LED in the bulb exposure mode? I have only glowing reports other than the custom settings. I you want a camera that will probably out shoot you and out last you, this is the camera for you. It's Professional all the way. It uses 8 AA batteries. This is one reason I love the camera, because you can buy the batteries anywhere! It is a must to read the manual to use the camera. It should be expected. This is not an amateur camera and it deserves your attention. Check out Moose Petersons web site for an outstanding review of the Nikon F5. Buy one and you'll agree, Nikon is the king of the hill.
