I bought a Pentax IQ Zoom 120 Mi Date Kit last month from PhotoAlley.com (which, by the way offers great pricing on many cameras, no tax and free shipping - highly recommended). My criteria were a good zoom range (at least 110mm), compact size and good quality. After a lot of comparison with some Canon models as well as other Pentax cameras, I chose the 120Mi. And so far, I'm very happy because it seems to meet all the criteria I was looking for. [By the way, the camera shown here at Epinions isn't actually the 120Mi - it's a lot smaller in real life.]
The camera is easy to handle and use. Another thing I like in the camera is the concise and clear documentation. I read the manual cover to cover in under an hour, and it told me all I needed to know to use 90% of the features. The remaining 10% of the functionality is stuff I won't use, but I know it's there in case I need it.
My only complaint is the viewfinder. Looking at my photos after the first few rolls of film were developed, I misjudged the frame size on quite a few photos. The viewfinder has a number of outlines in it, and the manual tells you to use one for close-ups and the other for when you take photos at high zoom rates. I think I followed the advice but I still took several photos where important parts of my composition were cut off (like parts of faces...not good). With my other cameras, irrespective of the zoom rate, what you see in the viewfinder is what you get. I guess I'll get better at judging this.
