The "Hot Wash Trick" (Reply to this comment)
by justa_j0e
I have not tried this myself (I haven't found a need to) but I got these instructions from another GWL11 user. Hope it helps you out.

The hot wash trick on the GWL11 --

The GWL11 has a 'hidden' hot fill cycle that is intended for cleaning it of fabric softener/detergent residue, but clothes CAN certainly be washed on this cycle. It works off the Favorite button, in combination with the Perm Press cycle. A program adjustment procedure is required to set it up, but once that's done, the cycle can be run whenever desired by pressing Power, Favorite, and Start. (Adjust the water level manually, and the spin speed, if desired.)

1. Press Power.

2. Press and HOLD Favorite until it beeps twice and the light flashes.

3. Select Perm Press.

4. Select Hot wash temperature. (It may be possible at this point in the programming phase to select a specific water level, such as Medium, if one will normally be running a particular size load of whites, for example. That water level will then be the default when Favorite is selected, and you can further adjust it at that point if needed for a larger or smaller load.)

5. Press Favorite to save the setting.

After purchasing the Fisher Paykel GW11 I was also disappointed in temperature control and contacted the company. When using the Auto water level, it only added water to the "low" water level on the agitator no matter how full I stuffed the machine, it adds hot or warm water but then adds so much cold before the agitation actually starts that all my loads were washed in "cold" water. The company's response was that the salesman should have explained to that's how the machine works and this is why it is energy efficient (because it uses so little hot or warm water). Also, the low water level on the Auto setting was so low that the clothes could not move at all during agitation. I resolved this by always manually choosing the water level.

Hi and welcome to Epinions. Your review gave me some food for thought about this washer.

I was wondering what kind of dial does this washer have. Is it electronic and is that why you can't use hot water when using the delicate cycle.

If you edit to include more info on the settings please let me know so I can read/rate again.

Really good start on your first review.
