| paul1149's Full Review: Frigidaire GLTF1670A Front Load Washer |
I enjoyed this machine for some 5 years. I was attracted to it for its stainless steel basket, since my water tends to be acidic. Had a bit of trouble keeping the machine balanced at first, but it seemed to wear itself in. I found it well-designed in almost every way, including styling, performance, water savings, and quietness.
It's only performance flaw was once it spotted an article of clothing with some liquid bleach. And design-wise the door is small, and it's being low makes it hard to access. Other than that I was very happy with this machine, which was an entry-level front-loader.
However, now suddenly the rear bearing or basket brackets have broken, leaving the basket loose and making the machine knock very loudly. The estimates I have gotten have approached $400 to fix the machine, and I'm sorry to say it's not worth it at that price. 5-6 years of very moderate use is simply not enough to get out of a machine in this class. Frigidaire's (White-Westinghouse) warranty isn't helping me any, so be careful.
Also, I found buying the unit at Sears has its disadvantages. Sears places its own model/serial numbers on the machines, making finding repair info on it (schematics, parts lists) out on the Web more difficult.
