Pros: The Ideal Travel Companion, Brings Sharpness & Detail lightweight
Cons: Automatic ISO & 120/220 detection only works with Fuji-rolls
The Bottom Line: The Fuji 645zi is the missing link between 35SLR weight and 6x45 sharpness for the right price !

| crowdedhousenl's Full Review: FUJIFILM GA645Zi Rangefinder Camera |
I'm a photographer for 34 years now, not for a living, but definitely a fanatic. I'm a captive fan of SLR 35mm, especially NIKON. I've several old NIKONS (1963 F and 2 1974 FT2) with 6 superb "A" type lenses. Besides that I own almost all of the ASAHI Spotmatic models. The last 3 years I used the CONTAX G2, with 21 (expensive, but boy what a lens !), 35 and 90 mm Zeiss perfection. But then, 2 years ago I bought a Mamiya 645 with a 2.8-45 (28 in 35mm) and an analog light meter. Why ?, I think e retro feeling struck me and I want to go back to the old days. But if you use 6x4.5 and blow it up to 30x45cm, you're lost, bye bye 24x36mm.
The only disadvantage is the weight of mid-range cameras.
So I looked around for a mix of the 35SLR weight, the Contax range-finder and the NIKON/Zeiss lenses quality!, Not possible you would say !, well go for the 645zi from FUJI, it's close, very close. Forget the interchangeable lenses but enjoy the lightweight travel companion.
Before you pack your backpack, shoot some films to get used to the range-finder and changing films. After that it's point and shoot, with all changes you need and concentrate on what it's all about; The Object To Photograph.
