Pros: lightweight, durable, good battery life, good HD, and a large, clear screen.
Cons: Uses shared video memory, no built-in wireless LAN, default Win XP Home
The Bottom Line: Good managerial PC; nice for a developer too. Good for music files; not bad for games. I'd buy it again.

| stghost's Full Review: Fujitsu LIFEBOOK C7651 (FPCM30493) PC Notebook |
I really like this PC; I've used it for work and personal business. Its a good, solid PC that has traveled in my briefcase and backpack around the country. The mix of features is very nice - it comes with a 3.5" floppy, a DVD/CDRW, Ethernet, modem, a Fireware (1394) port, USB, Parallel (sorry, no serial ports), and audio and optical ports. I wish it had a smart card port for direct access with digital memory cards; but that is minor.
My laptop came preloaded with Windows XP Home; I do not know if there is an option to have XP Pro delivered - which is needed for any serious application development work in the .NET environment. (You can upgrade, sure, but that is an additional cost.)
The mix of applications is workable; with the basics for using the CD burner and DVD player. You'll need to load your own productivity packages.
After about a year and a half of traveling work the hard drive finally failed; fortunately I had purchased the extended warranty from Best Buys. They replaced the damaged HD, and gave me back the unit ready to restore.
However, Fujitsu does NOT ship OS restore CD's with the unit; there is a hidden partition for restoring the OS if it fails... a drawback if you lose the hard drive. In that case, you have to make sure the hard drive goes to Fujitsu to have the restore image loaded onto it (a $50 charge, according to the Fujitsu rep.) That is a bit of a pain to swallow. However, since I wanted to use XP Pro, I re-installed it with few problems. (Note: if you do so, you'll want to go to the www.fujitsupc.com website and re-download the drivers for the OS that you have installed.) I do not know if it is possible to get an OS restore CD when you purchase the PC.
All in all, it has been a GREAT laptop, and I've enjoyed using it. The ease of use is great; the screen is very readable, and its been durable and powerful for me.
