I bought this laptop about four years ago and it has more then paid for itself. With 512MB, 40GB, and 15"LCD it still holds its own with other entry to medium level laptops in the current market. The only thing missing is a DVD/R
It does however have a design flaw. The DC connector (the receptacle where the power adapter it attached) is prone to come loose from the main board. This is largely due to the L-shaped connector of the power adapter. This can also cause the actual metal contacts inside of the little DC connector to loose connection with the power adapter plug.
Two out of two other owners of the laptop that I personally know have experienced this problem. What's worse is that there are only two remedies for an end user; replace an otherwise perfectly working mainbaord for upwards of $500, or find a competent electronics technician to solder the receptacle back onto the mainboard (most computer techs can't perform this kind of repair).
I'm one of those guys who loves to learn stuff like this so I was able to work through it myself. I actually had to desolder the DC connector from the main board all together because simply resoldering it did not solve the problem. I then had to remove the three metal contacts inside the little DC connector and reshape them so proper contact was made with the power adapter plug. I do not recommend this repair unless you have the right skills and a lot of patients.
