APPEALING, FUNCTIONAL, DURABLE TOASTER AND GREAT VALUE!

Pros: Large toasting capacity, Durable, Attractive, Classic, Affordable, Easy clean up, and it's Family-Sized!
Cons: Possibly too many functions/selections, the knobs detract from the simplicity of the design.
The Bottom Line: I would highly recommend this toaster as functional, durable and fun. It stands up to everyday, constant family use. Some minor issues but, all in all, an excellent value.

Having searched online for quite a while for a "retro" style, practical toaster, to blend in with my retro kitchen, I didn't think I was going to get away with anything under $79 plus shipping. When I saw this one in Wal-Mart, the style was appealing. I grew up with GE products and with toasters that looked just like this one, only without all the functions and knobs. The price is so good and it does everything we need it to. I wasn't looking for perfection at under $35, but it is far nicer than most of the toasters (mid-price range, name brands) we've tried and were forced to eventually toss out. No matter what the thickness of the bread/bagel/muffin/waffle (fill in the blank) being toasted, it fits and never gets stuck. I haven't had the problem of things not getting warm enough but, if it happens, I could always toast them again for a little longer. It's nice how the wire "basket" closes over the slot while toasting. The slots are deep but the lever works fine to pop things right out. If it does become inconvenient at some point, there are always plastic toaster tongs. We're tough on appliances, we need large capacity and durability, and this toaster is holding up great. We don't touch small appliances while in use, so the outside getting hot while toasting isn't really an issue. It's easy to clean with the pull-out crumb catchers; our grandmothers kept their chrome toasters and appliances shining, it's worth a little extra effort for the charm.
