Pros: Extra freezer space, convenient water/ice dispenser, looks nice.
Cons: Cramped refrigerator space.
The Bottom Line: I recommend this to a single person or family without small kids. Families with kids should use a top freezer unit that provides easier access for little arms.

| jenni796's Full Review: General Electric GSS20IEP (19.9 cu. ft.) Side by S... |
This GE side by side is a nice looking refrigerator and would be great for a single person or a couple. It has plenty of room for leftovers and extra large freezer space for all those frozen dinners and desserts.
The ice and water dispense from the outside of the freezer door. The dispenser has other features such as a choice of cubed or crushed ice, cold water, an automatic light to see where your ice is going, and even a night light. The inside refrigerator door has a lot of extra storage for condiments and drinks. I especially like the door shelf that holds 2 liter bottles as well as a gallon of milk.
The glass shelves are efficient in holding the cold air and they are easy to wipe clean. No more brillo pads like you used on the old wire shelves. I even put one of the small shelves in my dishwasher after a sticky spill and it came out sparkling clean.
Never any frost or problems with the accessories. Easy to reposition or adjust shelves and bins in both the refrigerator and the freezer.
Now for the inconveniences...
The location you can put this refrigerator is somewhat limited. You have to be able to Fully open Both doors or you won't be able to put anything larger than a small dinner plate in because of the protruding shelves on the inside of the doors. That is one feature that made this a 'Not family friendly' unit.
You have to be well organized with stacking and positioning the items that you use more frequently in the front for easy access. My kids made a lot of spills trying to reach over or around other items.
The ice and water dispenser attracts every kid that comes in the house but it does have a 'lock' feature that is easy to use.
We recently replaced this with a new upright top freezer refrigerator and have been much happier. We put this Side by side in my uncles apartment and he loves it. His favorite feature is the crushed ice.
