Pros: Pretty appliance. Has nice shelf space and is quite roomy. Easy to clean.
Cons: Cannot get it to work properly. Was defective out of the box. Terrible customer service.
The Bottom Line: Sadly, I can't recommend. Though I know defective units do happen, the problem is in GE itself. A product is only as good as the company that stands behind it.

Had this lovely refrigerator delivered, along with a suite of GE appliances, on 10/18/07. I chose this model because I liked the appearance of it. The Clean Steel finish really DOES avoid that stainless steel fingerprint worry. I also liked the capacity of the freezer. The configuration of the fridge shelving allows me to put larger platters in there, which is great. If this appliance had worked correctly or been replaced promptly when it was clear there was a fatal flaw, then I'd be perfectly happy with it.
However, I immediately had problems with it as the freezer was filled with condensation, then the drops of water would freeze. Food was either frozen on unfrozen depending upon the hour of the day. The fridge portion was barely keeping things cold. I called immediately to GE for help and was told to "crank it up to 7". I protested that I thought the book said 5 was normal, and that it didn't seem right to have to crank it right out of the box. I cranked it to 7 or so. There was no change. I called Home Depot where I'd purchased it and was told they couldn't help me because I didn't complain within 48 hours to THEM.
I called GE back and they sent out a repairman. He couldn't figure it out so he ordered 2 parts and scheduled another call 2 weeks later. I had to throw away a lot of food in the meantime. The repair call came this Saturday, and as of today, it's still not working. The repairman said I had to keep the freezer at 8 to keep things frozen (since when?) and he put the fridge back at 5. Even at 8 the food is not frozen through, and in the fridge, still the milk is just above lukewarm (more food thrown away today!).
Home Depot keeps insisting that GE has to repair it 3 times, and neither GE nor Home Depot acknowledges that it's a lemon and if I hadn't gotten bad advice the first time I called in, I could have replaced it. I don't want a doctored up fridge that I paid so much money for. That's not right. I like the unit, I just want one that works!
