I bought the GE JES738 Microwave Oven as a replacement to our old GE Microwave. No it didn't die it was passed down to my little sister who was moving into her first apartment.

I liked this model because of some of the features. Buttons that show the picture of the food it represents for cooking such as: Popcorn (3.5 oz, 3 oz, or 1.75 oz package), Pizza (1-3 slices), Beverages (1-8 oz cup or 16 ozs-2 cups), Potato (1-4 servings), Vegetable (1-4 cups), Reheat food type serving size), & Auto defrost (food type, serving weight).
It also has adjustable power settings 1-9, 30 second button (starts automatically) & time cook (set yourself). It easy to change power levels, set cooking times, & hitting the 30 sec button to add an extra bit of heat to my cocoa!
The auto defrost will defrost food by the ounce & after setting the defrost button to the desired amount of time your frozen food will defrost in as little as a few minutes.
The clock is easily set so there is no need to keep a clock on the wall anymore.
The timer feature is one of my favorite, now I can use my Oster timer for working out & the microwave timer to time foods without using an energy.
There is a child lock on this microwave to keep little ones (mine especially) from using the microwave when you're not around.
All of these features & buttons are located on the right hand side of the, microwave. The door opens to the left with a soft touch of the release button under the control panel. Inside the door is a window with a metal cover to allow veiwing but keep heat from escaping.
The turntable is the size of a regular plate made of thick clear glass that is easily removed for cleanup in the dishwasher or by hand, it rotates to cook foods evenly.
This is a countertop model so the power cord is very short. You can use a extension cord if the rating of the microwave matches the rating of the extension cord. It is a three prong plug so you may need an adapter if you do not have the three prong outlets.
The microwave is black which is wonderful for a mom who has three kids in her kitchen at almost every moment if not more. It hides finger prints and dirt easier than a white appliance. The main reason I bought a new microwave and passed my used GE down to my sister.
It is about 2 & a half feet in length, a foot in depth & a foot wide. These are approximate dimensions from eyeballing the microwave.
My personal experience with the microwave is limited to heating foods, baking potatoes, & making popcorn. I do not use a microwave for any large cooking projects. For this purpose it is a wonderful model & heats canned foods very well & quickly. It cooks foods evenly & in a timely matter. I have had the occasion to try& burn things but that is my nature no fault of the microwave.
It defrosts chicken, beef & pork in no time, & it doesnt cook the food instead of quickly thawing it out.
This is a great microwave for the money. I have looked at more expensive models & brands but for the purposes I am using it for there is no need to spend an extra 20, 40, or 60 dollars on a unit to heat up or thaw out foods. This is a nice model that is easy to clean & hides dirt when you just don't have time to wipe it down. I highly recommend this GE product as I did my old GE Microwave.
