Pros:it does the job! Compact and stylish, but roomy. (sounds like a car!)
Cons:Really, none we can think of so far.
The Bottom Line: If it fits your space, you like the style, and you can't (won't) afford the similar Sub Zero model for $1200, buy this one!

*Background on us: We are not wine experts, but we have been drinking wine for years and know the difference between bad and good in the under $20 price range. We bought our cooler 1 month ago.

While we looked into many wine coolers, we wanted the GE Profile because we have the matching fridge, stove, microwave and dishwasher. Still, we were ready to toss it out if it wasn't good. Luckily, it's great!

The temp is right and the gauge and controls seem to be working. We set it (manually) at 50 degrees so we could store both white and red simultaneously. We live in Tucson, AZ so our reds must be kept cool as well as our whites. We didn't have the space for a bigger dual system so we decided to deal with our reds being a little to cool. No problem as we just leave a bottle in the shade on the porch while dinner cooks and the warm weather brings it to the right temp quickly. As for whites, we can handle drinking them right out of the cooler at 50 degrees but then we either put them in the ice bucket or in the fridge to get them cooler and keep it there. None of this has been an inconvenience at all.

The motor kicks in when the temp goes above your desired maximum. For us this seems to happen approx. 4 times during the day. The unit does have a hum to it when the motor kicks in but it is not nearly unbearable. We don't even notice it anymore. Our cooler is basically in the center of our 2200 sq.ft. house but there is a wall between the living room and the cooler and a hallway plus door between our bed and the cooler. It has not kept us awake, woke us up or disturbed our reading.

It was easy to set up; we did it in a few minutes with minimal reading of the instruction booklet. We have not changed the door direction so I can't comment on that. It only took a few hours to reach the desired temp upon start up. We picked it up from Home Depot (Special order $472) at 1pm and had our wine in it by 4:30pm.

So far so good!

9/14/06 - We are still absolutely loving this chiller. It is keeping everything at the right temperature. Although it makes a low humming noise a few times a day as the motor kicks in to regulate temperature, it has not been disruptive. Its also very attractive and fits in beautifully with our stainless steel appliances and our new cherry cabinets. Definitely worth the money we spent!
