Gateway 42inch plasma is worthless junk

The Bottom Line: Don't waste money on this product. Buy from a company that knows how to manufacture TV's and stand behind their product.

I purchased a Gateway 42inch plasma for the then going rate of 2999.99. The store told me there was no shipping charge and it would be about a month because of back-order. I waited and no tv. I called the store to check on what was going on. Evidently there WAS a delivery fee and because it was part of the payment the order was cancelled. Did Gateway tell ME ~~~ NO, But of course they cashed my check and was happy with my money. I re-ordered and paid the delivery fee and another 2999.99 + tax + extended warranty with another check and was told there was a month wait because of back-order. I finally did get a tv and finally did get my original money back.
The tv picture quality has always been lousy, it gives the impression of viewing a low quality jpeg image. Finally towards the end of last year it got worse and after 2 attempts at replacing everything that could be replaced internally, Gateway decided to send me a new one. Well it arrived Saturday and low and behold this one has damaged pixels that flash repeatedly on the screen. I called Gateway this morning and there is nothing they can do. Evidently as many as 10 damaged pixel areas on the screen is within their acceptable range. What kind of tv is this, I didn't pay $3000.00 to watch pixels flashing on my screen. What is the purpose of the extended warranty? Gateway must know they failed in this venture and are evidently trying to reduce the amount of losses by making the customer suffer with this pile of junk they call a tv. I will never again purchase any item from this company and hope that it isn't to long before the loss of customers makes there name a forgotten memory as they close all of their doors just like they did the stores.
