| gedeyenite's Full Review: Gateway DC-M50 Digital Camera |
I originally purchased this camera for two reasons:
1) Price
2) Good reviews here at ePinions
I have since been sorry. When I first received it and went through the rounds with it I was happy. I was only dissatisfied with the "cheap" appearance of the product (looked more like a toy than a quality camera) and had a kind of clunky feeling to it.
I first realized that this thing eats batteries like crazy. Twice I had to find a quick place to purchase batteries or lose some image opportunities.
Next, I started to notice how finicky the image process was. The camera is VERY particular on the picture taking conditions. In a room with sunlight pouring in, the camera will still indicate that there is not enough light to focus the picture.
Finally, after giving the camera a huge chance, I was fed up with its inability to take a focused image. Images would be focused everywhere except for the subject. Images would look fine in on the LCD screen and then when I would view them on my PC they would look blurry.
I would not recommend this camera. I am now buying a Fuji Film S7000 (putting out the cash for the quality). Additionally, I have confirmed my opinion about the products that gateway makes. You get what you pay for.
