zoeyburger's Full Review: George Foreman GR15 Indoor Grill
My mother-in-law gave my husband and I a George Foreman Lean Mean Fat Reducing Grilling Machine for Christmas. My pet name for this machine is George so for now on I will be calling this product George.
I turn George on in the kitchen and my husband doesn’t get jealous. My husband knows that in just a few minutes he is going to get a quick cooked, fat reduced, great tasting piece of meat. I say meat, but you can grill vegetables as well. At this point we have only used George for meat though.
The first time I turned George on we cooked hamburger. Our hamburger patties were approximately 6 inches in diameter and about 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick. Two patties this size fit perfect on George. I put the lid down and wondered just how long it would take to cook these two large size patties. I watched as the grease came pouring out of George and thought, “Are these going to be dry?” I picked up the lid after 3 minutes, but they still needed more time. At 5 minutes I checked again. This time they were ready to eat.
We then had our first taste test. The hamburger tasted wonderful. They tasted like hamburger not greasy hamburger. We had about 1/4 cup of grease in the drip pan and the hamburgers were still juicy. My husband who is not a big hamburger fan (unless it is in spaghetti or dishes like that) even requested hamburger for the next nights dinner.
We have had hamburger patties three times now. Each time the patties have been about the same size, each time it has taken approximately 5 to 6 minutes to cook, and each time they have been great tasting.
Last night we decided to try pork chops. We cooked two large pork chops at a time. The pork chops took about 7 minutes to cook. They tasted so good that my husband decided to cook two more. The second set of pork chops came out as good tasting and as juicy as the first.
George is our new best friend in the kitchen. We now try to think of new things to cook for dinner instead of thinking of places to go out to eat. I believe that this will lower our food costs by staying home more. That is unless we eat more, because it tastes so good.
The clean up on George is so easy. George has a non-stick finish which only requires a soft wet wash cloth to get the grill clean. George comes with a plastic fork looking item which is meant to help clean the grill, but I have found that it really isn't needed.
The clean up isn’t the only easy thing about George. Cooking on George is even easier. Plug George in, wait for George to heat up, put the meat on the grill, take the meat off when it is done. I should tell you it takes about 3 minutes for George to heat up.
George has made our home a fun place to eat again. I recommend that every home have a George in it. We love ours.
