| toshineon's Full Review: Gigabyte GA-8KNXP Motherboard |
I bought this motherboard because I wanted to put together my own computer. Funny thing is, I started getting all the pieces I wanted together and eventually realized I had to buy a motherboard. So I picked the motherboard last! This one seemed like it would allow my other components to work at their maximum capacity.
My configuration is
2.8 Gigahertz Pentium 4 CPU Hyperthreading 800 fsb
1 Gigabyte of DDRAM 3200 at 400 MHz Kreton
Powercolor ATI Radeon 9700 Pro
NEC 8x DVD burner
SoundBlaster Audigy 2 Platinum
Maxtor 7200 ATA133 40GB for a system drive
Western Digital 7200 ATA100 80GB for a media storage drive
Antec Lanboy case.
MORE THAN HALF OF MY SUCCESS putting together my computer came from the manual for this board. From the installation of the CPU to attaching the lights on my Lanboy case, this manual took care of almost every single aspect.
1) Install CPU
2) Install memory modules
3) Install expansion cards
4) Connect ribbon cables, cabinet wires and power supply
The instructions are easy to follow and have pictures so that a medium level user can assemble a whole computer. The only things I had to do more research on were the jumper settings for my drives and how to attach a master/slave set of hard drives to the IDE cables.
Included in the box was a big bag of screws and so forth. It was more than enough for my whole set up and I still have about half a bag left. I also received a full set of SATA and RAID cables and connectors to perform all the functions that this motherboard provides.
Also included was software helped me keep track of the temperature of the CPU. I was really thankful for that because I bought all the parts separately. I didnt know if I was going to overheat my new computer until I ran that software.
I took a lot longer to finish it than I expected. I thought it was going to be as easy as a snap-tight model car
but it really had a lot of things to connect. I was also learning as I put it together so it did take some time. I think it took about four days to set up then two weeks of adjustments.
So now my computer is set up nicely. My only beef is that the motherboard was so beautiful. I mean the color and the placement of its design were very eye pleasing. I didnt want to put it into the case....
