patman_z's Full Review: ATI RADEON 9000 PRO, (64 MB) AGP Video Card
after years and years it looks like ati has finally gotten around to making good cards. in the era of voodoo 2 and 3 they didn't have much to offer, and the drivers were hard to come by. I replaced a voodoo3 16 meg card with the radeon 9000 64 meg. This card was the cheapest radeon that the store had, but I figured that for as much as I play games it really wouldn't matter. Also the fact that I am running a VIA C3 800 instead of a fast pentium or amd aided in going the more inexpensive route. I later learned that the higher radeon cards require additional power from the power supply. It seems to me that heat, and power usage would enter the picture with those cards. I picked up Neverwinter nights as my first game to try. It runs very, very well I am running a resolution of 1024x768 on the high detail/texture setting and everything is smooth. futher more I know that it is all the graphics card because my system has an inherently slow processor that accumulates load very quickly. The card supports very high refresh rates, for instance 1200x1024 at 100 fps, that is nice for those of us with sensitive eyes. beyond that I really haven't had any problems with the card. A piece in their software that checks for updates would be nice. good card, I recommend it
