todd72's Full Review: Haier HLP21E Top Load Washer
****Update 5/3/09- If you buy this unit, MAKE SURE you can return it without incident, as Haier customer "service" is non existent! My unit came with a slightly leaky hose, I cannot get the cust service dept to replace. I am the world's busiest person and do not have time to spend countless hours on the phone trying to get this resolved. Now I will have to reload the unit into my car, return to Walmart, and get another one for a simple $5 hose. I definitely do not have time to for this!****
I just bought this Haier mini washer last Friday. It's definitely small, I can fit maybe one pair of jeans and one sweatshirt in it, but it seems to work pretty well. It really spins the clothes better than I thought it would. It's like a microwave, great for what it was intended, but you have to know how to use it and it's not good for everything. It will not take the place of a standard washer, but is great for single people or people in a small apartment or condo. Two more great features: the normal wash automatically has two rinses, and it beeps when the load is complete. It also has a short cycle and long cycle. It has three load sizes, which is a joke because you will most likely only use the largest setting.
The machine holds maybe 1/4 to 1/3 the load of a standard washer. Also, because of it's pulse agitation, clothes come out twisted- sort of like you would wring out a washcloth. I don't know how, but the clean clothes are lint free.
I did have trouble with a compression fitting on a hose (included) and it Haier customer service was very difficult to reach, and not real accomodating. I am hoping to get this replaced under warranty, I can deal with it for now but the hose has a very very slight leak. I was however, very dissapointed in their cust service!
Make sure you get casters as this unit is heavy, and the handles provided are very small so you can only fit a few fingers in them, and that makes it hard to move. The caster kit is usually around $35 extra.
For those of you who are having trouble finding it, go through Walmart and order on line. I tried and tried to get one off Craigslist (they were all sold immediately) and other venues (which came back as unavailble). PLUS, the Walmart unit includes casters- see above paragraph. Walmart only took about a week to get it, and they will ship it to your local store for free. They email you when it's in, and you pick it up at the store, of for about $20 they will deliver to your home. Better yet, it's reasonable at Walmart, and usually WM will take anything back if you decide you don't like it.
