Halo 2, the sequel to the most anticipated game of it's time. It had alot going against it. It was expected to be greater than the original Halo. I'll say that it was as a bit better, but not much.
First, there were a few things new to the game, but nothing huge. Dual Wielding, new weapons and vehicles were among those new features. But there were also some stuff taken out/added that weren't so good.
I did enjoy the Dual Wielding though. Dual Wielding allowed the player to weild 2 guns at once. They had to be the smalled guns though, like 2 SMG's, or whatever. It couldn't be like, 2 shotguns, which was good. In this aspect it's alot different from the first game, where you could only have 1 gun at a time.
Speaking of weapons, there were a few added ones, but sadly, a few taken out. The AR, from the first Halo, was taken out and swapped for the Battle Rifle. The Battle Rifle was a good weapon, but all things considered, I preferred the AR. They also made the pistol alot weaker. In the first Halo, it was a monster. You could own in multiplayer games with only the pistol. In Halo 2, it was greatly toned down. Now, it actally is a pistol. But the cool thing was, was that you could Dual Wield two Pistols. The two pistols fired simultaneously to the head/upper chest was actually very effective. Another new human weapon was the SMG. It was a cool gun, if you want to give a bruise to a Covenant Elite...The gun was powerless. Even when Dual Wielded, the SMG was just not strong enough to go up against bigger enemies on high difficulties. It was good for killing Grunts and Jackals, and infection flood, but not much else. The human sniper in Halo 2 had a bit of a new look, but nothing major.
The Covenant also had new weapons. The Brute Plasma rifle was one. IT was basically a faster firing version of the Plasma rifle. The Covenant also got a sniper rifle in the second Halo. It was a good gun, I loved using it. A great and needed addition to the Covenant arsenal. Other added weapons were the Fuel Rod Gun, and the Brute Shot. Both were good guns and made the game a bit more interesting. You could also use a sword in Halo 2 now, which ended up just getting annoying in MP matches.
New vehicles also came out. A new version of the Warthog with a grenade launcher, spectre, and wrath tanks. These all made MP matches very fun.
The MP (Multiplayer) in halo 2 was alot better than in Halo. Halo 2 included new, better maps and customizeable skins. Halo 2 was tons of fun when playing with a link cable. I've done it several times, and it's great fun.
Nothing really new to the story though.....More alien vs. human skirmishes...There were new, cool enviornments though. But overall, the story had nothing that new.
In Short, Halo 2 provided more and better weapons, more and cooler vehicles and better MP than Halo 1. But things like the AR being taken out, the grenade throwing distance decreased, and the pistol damage decreasing made the game not as good. But I still like Halo 2 more than Halo 1. But it still wasn't as good as it could have been.
