Pros:Mixes all types of ingredients from dough-cakes. Beautiful to display.
Cons:None that I have experienced.
The Bottom Line: I have already recommended this to all I know, but now will add the caveat about the motor - just in case =)
My two daughters and I love to bake. I have long desired a stand mixer to expedite the process, but have always found them to be out of our reach cost wise.
I was thrilled to find the Hamilton Beach 63222 Stand Mixer on sale for 139.00 in my favorite color YELLOW! It is such a happy appliance to have sitting on the counter.
I would say, on average, we use our mixer once a week. We make cakes (because they come out so much fluffier using this!) bread dough, whipped potatoes (including sweet potatoes for a casserole)and cookie dough. It is a work horse! Fortunately we have never had the overheating issue or the burned out motors. I am sorry that people have experienced this and would have been hesitant to purchase it had I read the reviews beforehand.
I can understand not buying it if you want the attachments for grinding meat and such - and if that was an issue I would gladly save more pennies to purchase a K'Aid - but I just wanted it for baking/cooking and for that purpose and the price we paid it is well worth the cost.
It comes with the standard mixer attachment, a splash guard (which I have never used) a dough hook (which I love) and an additional flat mixer head. The ease of attaching/detaching the bowl and the mixer elements is so simple that my 9 year has been using it for the past year.
Clean up is a breeze - everything is dishwasher safe - click it off and pop it in. The mixer itself wipes clean in a flash, even after you catch your daughter's mess 4 hours after she made a cake!
I will be keeping an eye open for any chance of burnout, but with the amount of use this mixer has & will endure I hope it doesn't happen. Still, if it did burn out I would probably place a plant in it and keep it in the kitchen, just for the counter appeal!
