Pros: Highly Customizable and Versatile!
Cons: Not a "wired" product.
The Bottom Line: I'm still loving it two weeks later- it's user friendly, easily personalized, and adapts/carries over well to other features based on input.

My apologies to those who read my first "express" version- I'm new to Epinions and still getting the hang of things... That being said, read on...
I would highly recommend this program for anyone seeking mild to moderate weight loss, or just trying to be more aware and eat/be more healthy. It comprehensively evaluates both your intake and calorie burning. Intake is (cal, fat, carb, fiber, protein, etc.) based on the meal/diet plan you select including tables and graphs showing goals progress in many more categories than just weight loss.
The extensive database of foods and ability to add foods (even entire recipes and meals)that you eat regularly is only one of the many features that make this software very versatile and highly customizable.
Update:
My affection for this product has only grown since beginning use- REALLY!
There is a VERY extensive database of foods with easy-to-navigate categorizations, etc. Once you have entered several foods together, you can save them as a group if it's a meal/specific recipe you make often.
You also have the option to edit those items/categories if you know the nutrition facts to be different than what's listed, as well as add to your favorites.
For example, I drink sugar free carnation instant breakfast almost every day, so I entered that as a new item with all its nutrition info. I am able to simply go into my favorites and select it each time, and the nutrition info is automatically saved. Also, as long as the item already exists in the database or you enter it yourself, nutrition info is automatically adjusted if you enter that you ate a different portion size.
Another thing to consider if you eat out is that there's a whole category that's fairly comprehensive that contains major restaurant chain menu items, as well as big brand name grocer frozen meals/pizzas, etc.
As I use this more, I would possibly prefer that it be a "connected" software, but it is VERY highly customizable. You can add items at any time, or even delete some- I'm allergic to portabellos and don't take chances on other mushrooms, so I deleted the entire mushroom sub-menu.
I would say generally speaking D&EA is geared toward weight loss and general nutrition. However, that's MY primary use for it. There is an extensive list of exercise/fitness possibilities, and your entries for exercise are also customizable with a general "high/medium/low" impact or effort selection.
This also automatically transfers into your nutrition log where it alters the number of calories you should be consuming to compensate for that particular activity.
Another feature is the ability to alter your BMR on a daily basis- this is helpful for me as I'm mostly resting (8-5 office job) during the week but am much more active on the weekends.
I consider myself to be on the high-end of amateur tech-savvy, and I think this is a great software because it's fairly user-friendly right out of the gate, but it's clear there are many more features you can explore as you learn it more.
Feel free to leave comments with questions, etc.
