Before I get started on this review, I have to say one thing: When I wear Clinique Happy, EVERYONE stops me to ask me what I'm wearing! The men AND women at the company I used to work for went absolutely crazy over this fragrance. I'll talk about that later in my review!


Happy Details:

Clinique Happy comes in a clear glass bottle with a silver chrome cap. The only way I can describe the bottle is to tell you that it is a "tall, flattened oval." The bottle is very easy to hold and the cap simply lifts off. This is definitely one of the easier fragrance bottles on the market right now. The spray is a regular, pump-type of spray - it is not an aerosol.


The Scent of Happy:

Do any of you remember when Clinique first introduced Happy? They claimed that the fragrance of Happy could actually alter your mood and could possibly make you happy. I first got a whiff of Happy in a magazine advertisement (the advertisement with the little scented flap that lifts up, that you can rub on your wrist). I was impressed - it was unlike any other cologne I had tried.

The scent, as described by Clinique, is
"a chic, modern, multi-layered floral with the sparkling, lingering fragrance of Ruby Red Grapefruit, Boysenberry Bush Flower and Hawaiian Wedding Flower."

It's important to keep in mind that the scent of Ruby Red Grapefruit is not overpowering in this fragrance. You will not smell "fruity" or "bitter" or very "citrusy" when wearing Happy. I can describe the scent using the following words and phrases:

*Sparkling
*Slightly tropical with a touch of citrus
*Clean
*Sexy

The scent of Happy lingers and lasts - you will not re-apply several times throughout the day. As the day wears on, this scent only gets better. As I stated earlier in my review, this fragrance made my co-workers at my last company take notice. Men were constantly asking me what I wore, and my boyfriend (who also worked there) was always telling me how good I smelled. Women constantly asked me what I was wearing - and then they continued to comment on it day after day ("You're wearing that perfume again - I need to get some for myself!")

Some scents, in my opinion, are better suited for certain seasons - Happy is a fragrance that I've worn during every season. It is not so light and fresh that it is only a "summer scent." It's perfect for any season and occasion.


Is It Similar To Any Other Fragrance?

In my opinion, no - I've never smelled a fragrance that was very similar. It is "clean" in much the same way that Philosophy Amazing Grace is "clean" - you will smell clean and fresh. This is the only fragrance that I can compare Happy to - but keep in mind that they are NOT alike in any other way.


Does It Make Me Happy?

Well, only when people are complimenting me on my fragrance. I don't believe that it has any real mood-lifting qualities, although it is a very energetic and bright scent. If you were to use the Happy-scented body wash in the shower in the morning, possibly it would wake you up and lift your spirit because it is so fresh-smelling.


Coordinating Products:

Clinique also offers this fragrance in a 1.7 oz. size, as well as a solid "touch-on" perfume in the form of a wand, body cream, body wash, body smoother, body powder and hydrating body mist, all in the Happy scent.

I recommend the body cream or the body smoother - both of these, when worn with the fragrance spray, deepens the floral notes of Happy and makes the scent last longer.


All In All:

This is one of my top three fragrances. I recommend it for any woman of any age. My mother, who is in her 50's, got a bottle as a gift and absolutely loved it. It's a unique, sparkling and perfect scent for just about any occasion.
