macster51's Full Review: Logitech Harmony® 659 LCD Remote Control
I purchased this product yesterday and was incredibly excited about it. I went to the Harmony web site and configured my set-up in their very intuitive set-up wizard. This wizard was so easy and complete that during the process I was totally confident that this remote would do everything I wanted it to.
Initially, when clicking the "Update Remote" link to send my configuration data to the remote itself, my browser would always go to a "This page cannot be displayed" message. (HTTP 500 - Internal server error-Internet Explorer) After a few tries (like 12) I called the Harmony Customer Support number and was immediately transferred to a customer service agent. I was surprised by the promptness and he was incredibly kind, understanding, and helpful. However according to him, the web site was just too busy at that time to send my created configuration to my new remote. He said that Harmony didn't expect this kind of response to this product. I can understand that but there's a catch in that reply; they seem to have been able to supply the hardware to support this demand.
I tried the update several times over the next couple of hours and finally BINGO!, it worked. And after a few edits of my configuration this remote works like a charm! (And I have been able to do the update anytime I wished and have had no website problems since those first couple of hours.) There was absolutely nothing that I needed it to do that this remote wouldn't do. I was able to re-map functions to different buttons and the website interface to do so could not have been more intuitive. After your initial configuration you will want to tweak it a few times. The site is a wiz at stepping you through this process.
I absolutely love the idea of this remote, and the website was great in letting me configure activities and feel confident that my remote would work just the way I wanted it to. The Customer Support was outstanding. I was almost ready to give up and take the remote back to the store while I was going through those website problems, but it has been perfect since then and the remote itself is great.
