big_griz's Full Review: Logitech Harmony® 659 LCD Remote Control
I professionally install home theater systems for a living so as you can imagine I work with a pile of universal remotes. Programming them is an art for in most cases. I have a lot of experience with the phillips pronto, the line of universals from Home Theater Master, and a few others over the years. While this remote is a bit simplified in comparison, I have found it to be the most user friendly both in programming and use. I was skeptical about the claims when I bought it so to test it out, I programmed it with their easy to use setup program (P.S. you will need an internet connection to program the remote). I probably could have had this thing done in about 45 min. to an hour if I wasn't messing with all the buttons to see what they did (I am a geek after all). Usually, I can expect to spend about 2 to 4 hours programming so, as you could imagine, I was pleased. The first time I used the remote, it worked flawlessly. I had to add some page up and down buttons for navigating the on screen guide on my cable box, but that was pretty much it. The only thing it wouldn't do is select disks on my JVC 7 disk DVD player. So next comes ease of use. I handed it to my wife, hid the other remotes, and didn't tell her how to use it. Ladies and gentleman, not one complaint. It's attractive, it's intuitive, and I want to find whoever put that little help button on there and kiss them full on the lips. I hate those "point and pray" situations with remote macros where one piece of equipment shuts off and everything else turns on. If that happens now, just press help, follow the instructions on the LCD screen, and WHAMMO, fixed. I like it and now I sell the heck out of these babies
