Pros: High bang for buck, very solid, built-in wireless LAN, plenty of ports.
Cons: Battery life isn't great, not a lightweight
The Bottom Line: If you're looking for a full-featured laptop that won't sweat the load, this may be a very good choice without busting the budget.

| jtt283's Full Review: Hewlett Packard Pavilion ze5375us (DC964A) PC Note... |
The HP5375us has a wealth of features for minimal cost ($1449 less rebate, if any). These include built-in wireless networking (which may be turned off with a button) in addition to an RJ-45 10/100 Ethernet connector and a 56K modem. There are three USB ports, a firewire port, serial, parallel, VGA, S-video, speaker, and mic. It has a CD-RW/DVD drive, and a 1.44 floppy. Another convenient feature is a mute button, and the touchpad (that includes scroll areas) may also be turned off with another button.
The 40GB hard drive is roomy enough, though at typical laptop RPM (4200) is not a screamer. The onboard Radeon video is competent, and along with the 2.4GHz Pentium4 can handle Unreal Tournament at 40fps.
This is a laptop, not a server, so its 512MB of RAM should be plenty.
I was able to quickly configure its wireless (and wired) networking to connect to my home network.
This system comes with Word Perfect and Quattro Pro, which, unlike similar products, are not subject to macro viruses. To help kill the latter, however, Norton Antivirus is also included.
If you're looking for a full-featured laptop that won't sweat the load, this may be a very good choice without busting the budget.
