| jjster6's Full Review: Hewlett Packard Scanjet 4670 Flatbed Scanner |
This is by far the best scanner I have ever used. The vertical design makes it extremely easy to scan large numbers of pictures or documents very quickly. Just drop them in and hit the scan button.
With my old traditional flat bed scanner pictures would always move when I closed the lid. It sometimes took longer to line up the picture than to do the actual scan. Not a problem with the 4670. Gravity holds the picture in place until you close the scanner. Then you can actually see that it is in place.
With USB 2.0 you get a preview scan in just a few seconds (on the first use the lamp can take a little while to warm up but from then on it's really quick).
The scanner was very easy to set up and the software installed easily (Computer: Pentium 4, 1.8 GHz, Windows XP Professional). I'm not an expert in the features of scanning software but I have no complaints with the bundled software.
I haven't used the transparent materials adapter (TMA) yet but it is included with the 4670. The scanner looks great and uses less desktop space than a traditional flatbed scanner (not a lot less though as you have to leave room to open it).
Scan quality is also very good. The default 200 dpi setting is quick and does a good job. Higher resolutions take longer and produce much larger files but at least you have the capability if you need it.
The best scanner I have ever used. Paid $299 Canadian at Staples for it and would definitely recommend the unit if you are looking for a good home scanner. Definitely worth paying a few bucks more for than the traditional flat bed type.
