This machine does the job

Pros: good value, frees up desk space
Cons: a little on the slow side
The Bottom Line: If My 5510 were to get smashed I would buy another one before the sun went down. It does what i need done. The price is good.

The HP 5510 is not the best printer I have used nor is it the best scanner, FAX or copy machine. If I had bought a better Printer, which I could for around $200.00 Then A better FAX for another 150 bucks. My kids now have a HP scanner that works a little better and it was just $75… so far that is $425.00 and no copy machine! All these machines separately took up 5 feet of work surface. I was looking at adding more desk space when my old Fax machine gave out. I went to Micro center to look at a new FAX, I came home with an HP5510. I gave my scanner and color printer to the kids and ended up with a net gain of about 3 or 4 feet of work surface. The HP5510 does all 4 lobs satisfactorily. If I were to rate each of the 4 functions separately I would give each 3 stars. Taken as a whole while considering I paid only $150.00 I will give it a 4. Years ago I had a cannon all-in-one that did not really work as anything but a fair FAX and so-so printer so I was a little hesitant about trying an all-in-one again but I am happy I did.
The fact that it uses a flat bed scanner with a feeder keeps the scans straight, my old Cannon was always getting things crooked and skewed.
So far the HP5510 has been frugal with ink cartridges (which are not cheap) I take measures to conserve ink. (think before you print, do not print full pages with color backgrounds unless you have to. If you have a laser in the office and are printing more than 1 or 2 B&W send it to the laser then get up and go get it.)
Set up was a bit long as I remember but I just followed all the steps as outlined and everything worked fine. I have recommended this machine to close friends and family.
