I purchased this machine 2 months ago. The second day I had it, the display wouldn't stop flashing and the machine wouldn't start printing! Tech support had me unplug, plug back in, push buttons in sequence, unplug again, etc. At times I felt like I was playing Twister the combinations they came up with. However, it was a good thing I wrote those steps down, because I needed them several more times.
In the last week it has also started to shut my computer down during printing. Some times it will print several different jobs or several pages before it shuts the PC down, other times it will print three lines and shut the PC down. It doesn't shut itself off - it shuts the computer off.
I must then reboot the computer, enter the print queue and click delete on the job. However, it doesn't clear the queue so I end up turning the printer off and rebooting the computer again to clear it out.
So, each time it shuts down, I must reboot twice. When you are trying to run a business, these shenanigans wreak havoc on productivity. I would guess it would drive the average home user crazy as well.
I purchased this product because I have had prior great experience with HP. I have a 15 year old HP Laser Jet 4 which is still a workhorse. I love that thing. Can't say the same about the Office Jet 5510.
