Pros: Attractive design, document feed tray that works well, makes great photocopies, not too bulky.
Cons: Within a year the printer was out of alignment. Unable to fix. Ink expensive.
The Bottom Line: HP disappointed me by not living up to their past standards of a quality product at a good price. Run from this printer.

| stevenkk2's Full Review: Hewlett Packard Officejet 5510 All-In-One InkJet P... |
This is the second HP I have owned. The first one purchased about 12 years ago was terrific. Well-made and high quality. So needless to say I was shocked that I have had so much trouble with the 5510. I was in the market for an all-in-one and the reviews of this product were quite favorable. It was easy to set up even though the instructions were not the clearest. I happily used the product (even though I never could get the fax up and running) for a few months before the cascade of problems began.
First I noticed streaking when it printed. It would create a straight line down the length of the paper about the width of three letters where the printing was blurred. Shortly after that the alignment of the left side margin was skewed a few degrees to the right so that when you looked at your newly printed page, it printed at an angle.
Oh, I didn't mention the print cartridge error problem. A window would keep popping up saying there was a problem with the print cartridge. Silly me -- I trotted out and bought a new one thinking it was a specific cartridge and not a printer problem. Also, sometimes the 5510 thinks the printer door is open when it is not.
I wasted more ink aligning the printer - to no avail. Printing out test sheets. Cleaning jets (or whatever they're called).
Another beautiful feature of this printer is that it is loud. And it seems to send messages to itself that makes it shudder and shake before it coughs out a streaked document. Actually watching the printer go through its gyrations became a source of amusement.
Customer service is non-existent and finding help on their website is difficult. I spent many hours searching for answers and working on the printer to fix these problems. The bottom line is that this printer is a piece of junk that I'm about to toss.
