| firedawg's Full Review: Hewlett Packard Photosmart 635 Digital Camera |
This was the first digital camera that I owned, received it as a Christmas gift, yet after a couple months, it left me looking for a better quality camera. While this is truly not a BAD camera for it's time, but compared to the more recent cameras, this is Horrible. The battery life on this camera is one of the worst I have seen in any battery operated item in a long time, it is mandatory to carry a pack of batteries with you to do a good day's worth of picture taking (I have not tested this with any type of rechargeable battery). That alone is enough to really discourage you from even taking the camera with you when you go somewhere.
The picture quality is not bad, considering its a 2.1 mp, decent enough for e-mails or slide show pictures.
The menus are very easy to navigate and most everything is self-explanatory making this a very easy camera to pick up and start using. With 3 color modes, automatic speed, self timer and the use of SD memory cards make for some nice options but not enough to make up for the truly horrible battery life of this camera.
I did get a lot of use out of this camera and I went through hundreds of batteries, so taking that into consideration, a higher end camera would have been more practical with less overall costs.
