starryman's Full Review: Hewlett Packard iPAQ h4155 Pocket PC
Having used 2 different PDA's with much disappointment in the past, I did a lot of research this time around after a year hiatus from using a PDA (I was so sick and tired of the previous ones, I didn't want to see another in sight). I figured the $350-$400 range was going to give me the best bang for the buck and it came down to the Dell Axim3xi and this one. Out of the box this thing worked immediately. Nice screen, much smaller than I thought A , and documentation is adequate. My home WiFI and this IPAQ were made for each other. I was accessing the web only within 5 minutes, including entering my WEP 128 bit security code. Stellar performance. So why did I give it a 3? Minus 1 because the cradle is terrible!!! I swear this was designed to break both the IPAQ and cradle - possible class action lawsuit (ie Apple notebook computer battery debacle). It took me several mins to evaluate how best to insert the IPAQ because it seemed so unstable. Anyone buying this will know what I'm talking about (thin tiny connector at the base and on the IPAQ)- you have to use two hands. The design is so bad that I figured I better buy the exteneded warranty for this. 2nd minus because... I called HP and they want $100 for 1 year and $180 for 3 year. WHAT????? The??? HECK?? That's robbery. If there wasn't a 15% restocking fee, I'd return this thing in a heart beat. For now I'll lavish it yet worry of breaking it.
