Cons: Fragile, poorly-engineered display with zero support from HP or its retailers

I was loving the features of this product - Bluetooth, WiFi, etc. when one day I pulled it out of my pocket to find a crack across the screen (and a garbled display). I had not subjected it to undue stress or abuse, it just had gotten twisted in my pocket a little (while in a rigid protective case, even). I have had Palm devices for years and they have never had any problems like this.
CompUSA, where I purchased the product, was less than useless when I returned to the store (the customer service guy kept asking me why I hadn't paid extra for the extended warranty (since HP's warranty is apparently crippled) - buy this if you still intend to purchase an iPAQ after reading this).
I called HP, and the very pleasant guy on the phone took down my warranty info and then pleasantly told me that I could return the product but in all likelihood, I would have to pay for repair or replacement myself because HP does not warrant the display against fracture. When I protested that this was clearly due to poor structural engineering (the thing does say "Pocket PC" on it, why won't it survive a pocket?), his response was "how do we know you're not lying?" Great customer service attitude.
I then did a little research on the Internet (for instance go read the reviews of iPAQs on Amazon) and found that this is far from an isolated problem with these units. So, while the features are really great, don't buy an iPAQ unless you're willing to pony up for the extended warranty or are a glutton for punishment.
