jwpearce's Full Review: Hewlett Packard iPAQ h2215 Pocket PC
I have been the owner of an IPAQ Pocket PC, 2215 model, for a year now. I have never regretted the purchase. I am not a high-tech user, and that's one of my favorite parts about it. You don't have to be a techie to get it to work and work well.
I purchased this product after pondering many Palm models. The deciding factor for me was that it already contains Microsoft office software. Of course it's scaled down versions and working with a stylus isn't always the fastest way to do something. But you can edit documents on the fly and move them back and forth from work to home to work with an ease that Palms can't touch. I often use it as much as a file transporting device as anything else. I also like the fact that I can store lots of documents on it for reference. Many times at meetings I have been able to retrieve resources that were needed on the spot.
Another feature I really like is that it synchs with Outlook. I use a cradle/charger/synch at work, and while I do not use my IPAQ for remote Internet access, it still synchs my email. So if I don't have time to read my email between meetings, I just drop the IPAQ in the cradle for a few seconds to synch, and whenever (and wherever) I have downtime I can read my messages. You can delete, reply, etc., and as soon as you synch again it makes the changes in your desktop-based Outlook.
I have not added memory and have never had any problems. It is fast and gives you several options for inputting data (such as a keyboard, letter recognition, etc.)
I use this product as much personally as I do professionally. I bought a case with a clip and keep it on me most of the time. When I'm working around the house and realize I need something next time I'm at the store, I just tap it into the IPAQ and have a running shopping list. The "notes" feature is very handy and a quick way to keep lots of information at your fingertips. I store such information as clothing sizes for my family and dimensions of things I'm looking for (draperies, furniture, tablecloths and the like) so when I'm shopping and spot a bargain, I can tell if it's what I need.
There's really nothing I don't like about the IPAQ itself. The case it comes with is cheesy and you'll probably want a nicer one. But the unit itself has been fast, reliable, and problem free for a year. My husband bought a Palm T2at the same time I bought my IPAQ, and he would love to trade (not happening!) This is a purchase you won't regret.
