Pros: Work quietly, efficiently, lessens odors in the air like pet or smoke.
Cons: Filters may be difficult to find locally, ionizer feature cannot be used with asthmatics
The Bottom Line: Buy this great machine. It's inexpensive, reduces the dust contaminants, smoke and/or pet odor. When you see the filters buy several of them so you don't run out.

We received this air purifier as a gift from my mother some years ago. We were impressed with how quiet it was. Also we liked how there was an ionizer for odor control and ease particle collection. We were amazed at how much dust, dirt and hair it collected just in a matter of days, but not surprised since we had cats.
We were disappointed though when my asthma started getting worse. We talked to my Dr. and he stated it was because of the ozone being released when we used this nifty little machine. We were disappointed but ended up selling it. Like I said, while we had it, it worked well and was a good machine. The air smelled fresh and clean and odors were lessened as was dust in the air, but we couldn't use it because of the asthma factor. We were a little disappointed with the cost of replacing the filters, but I cannot say that they were any higher than normal or higher than any other machine on the market. We also had a difficult time locating the filters, but we chalk this up to Walmart's inability to carry supplies for the stuff they routinely sell. We did find the filters on sale online without a problem.
Update: I am updating my original review simply because it occurred to me that this machine had an independent switch that turned off the ionizer (ozone releasing feature). So being that you can run it with or without the ionizer on, I am recanting my statement about it not being good for asthmatics. It can be used by people with asthma, just turn off the ionizer and run the machine without it. Also I wanted to add that the fan control allows you to run it at different speeds (low, medium, high), and that is a nice feature, because you might decide to use it on the low setting when you need whisper quiet in the house, but on high if you want extra suction power to really clean up the air. It also is a great machine for white noise to help you sleep (if you're like me and like some kind of background humming or noise to sleep.)
Also, the filters are easy to remove and check. The front grill part pops off very easily and you can check both filters, there's one that is a rinse and reuse filter, and the other is the HEPA filter which cannot be washed, but must be purchased to be replaced. Also the HEPA filter has a color indicator that tells you when it's time to replace the HEPA. It is white to start with and turns darker and darker gray until it is time to replace. There is a sticker on the machine showing the colors and what they mean. So, all in all I do recommend this machine for it's versatility, (filter hunting notwithstanding).
