Pros:Retro looking colors.
Cons:No suction capability. Difficult to clean. Brushes get tangled easily.
The Bottom Line: This vacuum clogs easily, has poor suction, and difficult to clean.

I have been using Electrolux vacuums for over twenty years. I have never used steam vacs but was intrigued by the concept. I purchased this Hoover vacuum so that I can thoroughly clean up dog urine. The vacuum was a turn-off from the moment I opened the box. First, there were multiple parts to put together. It was like a lego plastic toy that you have to assemble. The parts did not appear sturdy. Then you have to fill the water tank with warm to hot water. The vacuum doesn’t automatically heat up water, you have to get the heated water from the sink. You also have to get some liquid solution which costs approximately $7.00 at Target or Walmart to put into the vacuum so that it would clean your rug.

First few days

The vacuum did not work well from the start. First, you press the trigger to have some of the solution seep into the rug. Then, you press this other button so that it will suck up the solution. The vacuum got clogged instantaneously. Dog hair and other debris was preventing the brushes from oscillating. Also, the vacuum’s suction was poor. When the solution came onto the rug, the rug was left moist. The rug was vulnerable to mildew, mold, and other disgusting microorganisms. To gauge about how much of the solution was in the rug versus how much was actually sucked up: you will notice that in the second tank only about 35% was actually sucked up.

Next few weeks

I should have returned the vacuum while I had the chance, but I was caught up with other things. Cleaning the vacuum parts was an annoying experience. You have to disassemble the lego like parts. Then you try to clean up the brushes and tanks in your sink or bathtub. Unfortunately, you cannot clean all of the parts because some of the parts cannot be disassembled. In order to clean the parts, you have to be like a caveman and use primitive sticks or toothbrushes to clean all the excess dirt and grime.

Saying goodbye

Eventually, I needed to get rid of this vacuum because it was taking up too much space. The brushes were really tangled up with hairs. It was to the point where there were more dog hairs on that brush, then the bristles. I spent almost $200 for this vacuum. I sent this vacuum to Goodwill on an “as is” condition. Hopefully, they got better luck in cleaning this vacuum for selling than I did.
