kiminnc's Full Review: Hoover S1156 Sidewinder Handheld Vacuum
I would prefer to call this the Hoover "Sidetracker" because I've spent a lot more time fixing it and looking for parts than I have vacuuming.
I have really only used this hand vac a couple of times. I bought it because I have a Hoover vacuum that has performed like a champ and only cost me $100. Unfortunately, Hoover "Jr." isn't nearly as reliable - in fact, a hunk of junk!
I can't complain about the cord length - twenty feet is fine. The appearance is fine and seemed relatively sturdy. The head will rotate to accommodate hard to reach places. On the down side (and it's a long way down...), the belts come off or break easily and are very difficult to find. The filter area fills up quickly and must be emptied. The suction is okay, but not thrilling. I've only used it on the stairs, and it's difficult to get the dog hair in where the run meets the rise. Just today, I finally found replacement belts. I put a new belt on, which was no easy task, and began vacuuming. I think I'd finished 4 stairs before the belt came off again. I struggled to replace it, but it came off yet again. I replaced it a third time and this time it not only came off, but broke the flimsy little part that holds it in! *@#$*!!!
Anybody have a handheld they would like to recommend? Keep in mind that I'm very fragile right now ;)
