Wow...Your Huge!!!
Written: Apr 24 '07
Pros:Large Room, Close to Disneyland, Close to Freeways,
Cons:Small Television, Bed Worn Out,
The Bottom Line: The Extended Stay is a good place to stay with large rooms and within easy reach of Disneyland.
Background:
My wife and I were planning on spending a day at Knotts Berry Farm so I went looking for a room in the area. We booked a room at Extended Stay America via Hotwire for only $34.00 a night.
The Hotel:
The facility is easy to find as it is just of Katella Avenue, only 3 blocks from the Interstate 5 off ramps.
The hotel is a basic rectangular building, with indoor corridors, 3 stories, with elevator and no character.

Check In:
I walked into the lobby to check into the hotel. Next to the office is apparently the break room for the hotel. While I was trying to check in, all of the housekeepers appeared to be in the break room talking at the top of their lungs causing customers to be barely able to hear the person behind the counter, right in front of them.
I stood there for a couple of minutes while one employee was helping another customer, two other employees where behind the counter but talking to each other. After a couple of minutes they stopped talking and one of them asked me what I needed.
Check in took about five minutes and we were off to our room which was on the second floor. The key was one of those old pieces of plastic with holes punched into it. I have not had this kind of key in years!
The Room:
As you enter the room you head down a hallway. Straight ahead is a closet area with room for a large amount of hang up clothes. You then turn left into the main part of the room. To the right is the kitchenette which includes an 18 cubic foot refrigerator, a cook top with two burners, microwave, toaster, coffee pot and a sink. There is also a counter that faces the rest of the room. The kitchen area also had a full compliment of dishes and silverware to use.
To the left is the bathroom which was a long counter with sink, a full sized bathtub across from the counter, and a toilet against the far wall between the counter and the bathtub.
From there you continued into the main part of the room. On the right there is a desk and chair and a low dresser with a small 19 television on top of it. To the left was the queen bed with nightstands on each side. One nightstand had a telephone and the other had two lamps and a digital clock. Between the nightstand with the two lamps and the wall was a full sized recliner. There were two large windows in the room, the first one being directly behind the dresser and television and the other was against the far wall and had the HVAC unit below it.
Overall the room was huge. It looked about the size of two regular motel rooms put together. I would say this is the largest extended stay room I have stayed in.
The only two downsides of the room were the small television that looked even smaller by the large room and the bed that was worn out and needed to be replaced.
Nearby Attractions:
For those heading from Disneyland this is a great place to stay as you can either walk to the main entrance or there is a shuttle that will take you directly to the front entrance.
There are also several restaurants just over a block away on Harbor Blvd., including a Dennys. Also, there is a new mixed use development that is under construction right across Clementine Ave. from the motel, so that will greatly increase food services available close to the hotel.
The motel is just over a mile away from the Metrolink/Amtrak station, Anaheim Stadium, and Arrowhead Pond.
Check Out:
Since we had to be in Perris by 7:00AM we left about 6:00AM which was before the front desk opened up. We were instructed to just put the key underneath the gate that closes off the front desk area. This kind of worried me since there was no way to guarantee that the key gets to the right person. I believe they should have a drop box for those of us who do have to leave before the front desk is open.
Overall:
While our check in experience was less than desired, the room more than made up for it as it was large, and had everything you would need for an extended stay. The only downside to the room was the small television, but otherwise it was well worth the money.
