| jdornoff's Full Review: Motel 6 Green River |
Background:
My wife and I were heading to Durango, Colorado for an extended weekend. Since I was picking her up at 2:00pm from her work on Thursday, we figured we could drive about 4 or 5 hours then spend the night. A good stopping off point seemed to be Green River, Utah and since it was $20.00 a night cheaper than any of the competitors we decided to stay at the Motel 6.
The Motel:
The motel is located on the east side of Green River about a half mile from the exit from Interstate 70. The motel is pretty much typical Motel 6 with a “U” shaped building, a pool in the middle, two levels with outside corridors.
1860 Main Street Green River, UT 84525 435-564-3436 Fax: 435-564-8272
Check In:
There were two people checking in ahead of me so I had to wait about 10 minutes to get help. Just as the front desk person was finishing up help the customer in front of me, another front desk person came in, clocked in and started doing my paperwork. Both employees were friendly but seem to be more interested in chatting with each other than making sure their customers were being taken care of.
The Room:
The room had to be the smallest motel room I have every encountered. As you entered the room there was a dresser with a 19” television to the left. On the right there was a table and chairs next to the window and a queen sized bed with two small nightstands on each side. On the far side of the room was an area for luggage. The bathroom was large compared to the rest of the room, however it only had a corner shower along with the vanity and toilet.
In theory the bed was supposed to be a queen but it felt like a really small full bed. Also the bed seem a little to soft and the pillows were next to useless.
High Speed Internet:
The motel did not actually have high speed internet service, however there is a KOA campground next door and I was able to get a great signal from them. I have to say I was really impressed with the excellent signal and speed from the connection.
In the Area:
Green River is not the place to stay if you’re looking for a wide variety of restaurants. In fact the main street is full of abandoned buildings that show the town has seen better days despite being only a short drive from Moab.
The motel is just west of the eastern exit off Interstate 70. At the exit there are a couple of gas station/convenience stores one of which has a Burger King. To the west of the motel down the main street there are some small restaurants and a grocery store.
Check Out:
To check out all you do is drop off your key at the office and you are on your way.
Final Thoughts:
If you are traveling westbound on Interstate 70, Green River is the last stop for more than a hundred miles. However, I would spend a few more dollars and stay at one of the other motels in the area.
