Experience using this product
I purchased my DVR through DirecTV a few months ago. I must say this is the best invention to come along since the microwave. I am exaggerating a bit, but it is absolutely wonderful
For those of you who have been living under a rock for the past few years. A DVR allows you to record and pause live TV.
I mainly purchased this device because of my work schedule.
I do shift work so my schedule varies from week to week. With my Tivo it allows me to record the shows I would have normally missed by being at work.
Another cool function is the ability to record two shows a once. Example: "24" comes on Fox at 8:00 on Monday, well so does my other favorite show "Girlfriends". Well the TIVO records both of these simulatenously. What I will do is watch "Girlfriends" and then watch the recorded version of "24". By doing that I can skip through the commercials, yes skip through them completly (no more stupid Geico commercials). I essentially watch my two favorite shows in the span of about 1 hour and 15 minutes instead of the 1.5 hours it would have watching them regularly.
The functionality of the Hughes DirecTV TIVO is straight forward. You can pick shows to record from the Program Listing or you can hit the record button on the remote. a feature to die for is the season pass. It allows you to record every episode that is aired, automatically. As ws stated before I watch "24". Well the TIVO records every episode of it automatically.

Program listing is slow to update listings after scrolling down.
Fan is constantly on (a little noisy)
