I purchased this laptop in 2005 based on my boyfriend's recommendation (and with a huge discount). He's a network administrator and have made it his personal crusade to rid this world of Dell computers.
Anyway, it's been a year and I absolutely love my laptop! It is light, easy to use, fast, and very powerful. I initially use my laptop pretty much for personal use (grad school) but I found that I love the ease of it so much that I'm now using it for work instead of the one they gave me to use (a Dell). It hardly crashes (let's face it, it has Microsoft it's going to crash) and when it does, a simple reboot fixes all.
Mine has a fingerprint access which I didn't care for at first, but am unable to live without now. The wireless works very well on it and I'm able to connect to free access spots even with very few bars.
The DVD works well and I have stopped watching movies in my TV because of it. The speakers are loud but not that great, so I often use my Ipod earphone when I watch movies (then the sound is terrific!) I made a mistake and downloaded Vongo to my laptop about 4 months ago. When I did, my computer suffered greatly. This might be an issue with the RAM not being sufficient, but the laptop did have some slow periods and the quality of movies did not seem very good. I stopped my subscription and uninstalled their program. Then updated the system and some basic housekeeping and it's good as new.
I've dropped the laptop a few times in the past year and it hasn't shown much effect with it's performance.
